Why are You Doing This?
Why do you wake up at 5am to workout knowing you have a long, busy day ahead of you? Or, Why do you go workout after a long, busy day?
Why do you choose to weigh and measure your food?
Why do you stick to macronutrient allowances on a daily basis?
Why do you stand at your desk instead of sitting?
Why do you invest in your health via Nutrition Coaching and Gym Memberships?
If you follow some, or all of these principles, you know they lead to a healthy, more enjoyable life - something we should all strive for!
But, to most of America, all of these are extreme abnormalities.
But YOU have chosen to make the abnormal your normal.
Why?
We All Have Reasons
Maybe your answer to those questions is -
“I have a family I want to be healthy and present for.”
“I used to be extremely unhealthy, and I love the way this makes me feel.”
“I have accountability partners who expect me to maintain these principles.”
“My job/career requires this of me.”
“I am being monetarily incentivized to follow these principles.”
“My doctor told me if I didn’t make a change, I should expect unfavorable consequences.”
“I need to get off of certain medicines, and I know this is the way.”
“I’m just plain tired of the way I look and feel, and I want to make a change!”
The list goes ON and ON!
Wherever you find yourself on the list, THAT is your WHY.
So, Eli - “Why is this important?”
Side Note - I highly encourage you to ask “Why?” a lot. Seek to understand. The more we understand, the more educated we are within decision-making. The more educated we are within decision-making, the better decisions we make, which means we make less poor decisions, leading to less regret and more onward movement towards success.
Additionally, understanding WHY leads to the next point, MOTIVATION.
Motivation
Motivation is fleeting.
A motivational speaker may get you motivated for a moment, or a season.
A documentary you watch, or a professional athlete or person of influence could do the same.
But, what happens when that motivation disappears?
What then is keeping you on track towards the individual goals and principles you’ve established for yourself?
It’s your WHY.
When times are tough, remember your WHY.
When the 4:30am alarm goes off, remember your WHY.
When the food scale runs out of batteries and you have to inconveniently find more, remember your WHY.
When you’re tempted, remember your WHY.
When you just don’t want to, remember your WHY.
Motivation comes and goes, but your WHY doesn’t. Now, it may change, but there will always be a reason you do what you do.
There is an intrinsic motivation inside of you that leads you to be different. Remember that.
Find your Why
At E3, we encourage you to find your why early on. The earlier you establish this, the more likely you are to sustain initial gains and continue onward to reach your individual goals.
