First, Thank You!
I was encouraged to start this blog this year.
I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’m not really a writer, but I did it anyway.
This will be our 35th POST this year!
I have enjoyed a different avenue to express my passion for Health, Fitness, and Leadership.
You guys, the readers, make it all worth it. So, thank you for the subscriptions, the shares, the likes, and the comments - they go a long way and I value them.
It’s Not a Diet
Earlier this year, I wrote a post pretty similar to what we’re going to talk about today. Check it out here!
I’m not sure about you guys, but once people find out you “eat healthy” or “workout often” or “own a Nutrition Company” they hold certain expectations of you (whether accurate or not).
I want to share two comments I’ve heard recently and address them!
These comments don’t make me upset at all, they just show the transformative mindset you achieve once you see food as fuel and truly understand the science behind the food (macro and micronutrients).
Comment 1
“Are you guys going to be able to eat Cinnamon Rolls this year? I know you’re eating healthy..”
To be fair, this is an extremely respectful question/comment.
The host wanted to respect our lifestyle choices and offer an alternative if necessary.
BUT, you can still eat the cinnamon roll.
Check out this Instagram post explaining why!
Summarized;
I know what eating the cinnamon roll “costs me” from a macronutrient perspective. As an individual, I have the POWER over that food to make a decision on whether to eat, or not to eat.
If I eat it and don’t utilize the fuel, then I have to be willing to accept the consequences of that fuel storing as dietary fat.
On the contrary, if I didn’t plan to exercise, but don’t want it to store as dietary fat, I know must introduce additional activity to burn the additional caloric intake.
Most likely, I can “afford” the cinnamon roll with minimal to no consequence BECAUSE of, not IN SPITE OF my healthy lifestyle choices.
What’s that mean? It means that because I workout and exercise often, and usually intake minimally processed, whole foods that support my macronutrient goals, my body is efficient at processing fuel and the cinnamon roll won’t put a large dent in my progress.
It’s when we eat cinnamon rolls EVERY DAY that we start to suffer..
Comment 2
*Context* at a Christmas party with a plate of BBQ Beans, Green Beans, Chicken, and a Sandwich Bun
“Ya know, I just didn’t figure you’d eat that, but thought maybe you are just because it’s the Holidays..”
I’m really not sure what people expect me to eat? But, I think people are usually pretty surprised when they see me eating exactly what they are (and usually MORE, to be honest).
Again, this goes back to just understanding the contents of the food. I knew that I’d be eating;
Carbs from the Beans + BBQ Sauce
Minimal Carbs from the Green Beans
Some higher fats from Dark Meat Chicken (though I did remove the skin)
Carbs from the Sandwich Bun
So, really, other than more added sugar from the sauce, this is a pretty normal plate for me! (High Carb, Low to Moderate Fat, Moderate to High Protein)
Additionally, because I knew what I was having for the Christmas Party ahead of time, I was able to adjust my caloric intake and activity appropriately during the day.
THE SECRET
The KNOWLEDGE is the POWER. The knowledge to be able to answer the comments above is HOW you stay lean and strong year round, and it’s HOW you have complete FREEDOM over your nutrition.
What we teach and live out at E3 Nutrition is NOT A DIET, it’s a total and complete lifestyle change empowered by a mindset shift.

Sound advice. This is where education about what we eat comes in. We can't go around in life just moaning about foods. An understanding of what we eat and how it impacts us is crucial to enjoyment of foods. Thank you!
